Writing A Blog Need Not Be Difficult – 5 ideas to help!

Writing a blog

Writing a blogOne of the great ways to grow content on your website and help on-site SEO is to Blog, but the very idea of doing it fills many people with horror. What am I going to write about, I will not know what to say, I have nothing anyone will want to hear arrrrgh, panic, too difficult, can’’t do it!!

Well actually it is not as hard as people, think. Remember you are the expert in your field; you have stored huge amounts of experience and knowledge in that big computer called a brain. The biggest problem you will have is that you do not know what you know – or put another way the filing system in your “brain computer” is not structured – you have just crammed loads of information in there without linking it together.

So how do you overcome the problem, well there are several techniques that work and make blogging easy – yes EASY! You just need to help your brain pull the information from that crazy filing system most of us have.

So here are a few techniques for blogging.

1. Ask yourself a specific question

If I ask a chef to write a blog about cooking, their first question is likely to be what do you want to know about, or in what context, or what sort of meal or event. They may be able to write a few articles then the creative juices run dry. But imagine you are informant of a customer, they ask you specific questions and you fire out the answers with no problem because it is a focused query. The same goes for your brain -– so help it:

  • Imagine the sort of question client will ask and write 150 to 200 words on that -– easy isn’t it.
  • If you are in front of a customer and they ask a great question -– make a note of it and produce a blog article about it.

2. Develop Lists that help understand your area of expertise

  • What are the main points to consider when can I, etc……?
  • List goods resources on the web.
  • Make a list of the main points to consider when performing a specific task.

3 Reader Involvement

  • Run a contest and give prizes for user involvement.
  • Seek feedback on ideas or comments you make.
  • Run a survey; get people to vote for different ideas.
  • Provide a list of resources and then ask people to add to the list.
  • Ask the reader to submit questions so you can answer to demonstrate your expertise.

4. Post controversial ideas and ask for ideas

  • Perhaps discuss the both sides of an issue.
  • Some areas like politics and religion are very controversial and might be worth staying away from.
  • Write a post for beginners in your area of expertise.
  • Write a post for experts. This could be a comment on something that is current, or where a level of expertise is needed and you have some good or innovative ideas.

Our Testimonials

I chose Gordon to build my cruise website because of the feedback I had received from other satisfied site owners, and also because I liked the look and functionality of other websites he had built. He was very good at teasing out of me exactly what I wanted the website to offer, and he came up with a proposed layout for me. He then listened to my suggestions and either made the amendments I was asking for, or explained clearly why they couldn’t or indeed shouldn’t be done. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gordon.
